6 months and a big change coming....

"Done" was the first thing we heard from Preston this morning...then about 30 seconds later the light in his room came on!  He did it yesterday when he woke up from his nap too, but I was hoping it was a one time thing that he would forget about.  If you don't remember what his crib looks like (there is a picture below) it has a little cabinet on the side, so there is a little shelf like part to climb on....I asked my grandpa if there was any way he would be able to pull himself up on that section, and he assured me he wouldn't!  So much for that!!
This afternoon we tried to put him in bed for a nap and he just kept climbing up and eventually tried to climb off the side...that is a long way down.  I think he would have been very hurt if he made it down.  So I tried getting him to lay on the futon with me, no luck...so then I tried having him lay on his little couch in his room...With the door closed he cried for a while and then played with I'm not sure what b/c we had taken all the toys out of his room.  Eventually it was very quiet in there...I checked on him and he was asleep on the floor by his closet.  It is so strange how kids can just get so worn out they just lay down wherever and fall asleep!
So obviously Preston has become quite the climber, but he is just becoming quite the "big kid" all around.  He is talking a ton!  Our Parents-as-Teachers lady came last week and was amazed by how many words he is saying.  He has begun to put a couple of two word phrases together - he says "bless you" after you sneeze!  "come on mommy" when we are leaving, and tells shelby and rudy "bye shelby, bye rudy."  Tonight we ate chili for dinner and he did amazing at eating with a spoon all by himself!  I'm sure there is a lot more, but for now that is all I can think of.
Switching gears - I cannot believe there is only 14 weeks left before our little girl arrives!  We have so much to do...I cleaned out most of the closet in her room today and tried to fit it in our closet.  Amazingly our closet does not look any different!  AJ took some pictures of the futon, desk, chair and file cabinet and then listed them on craig's list.  Hopefully they get sold quickly for the price we want!!  The walls in her room need cleaned and holes filled - then we can get to the painting!
I washed all the maternity clothes today (so I don't have to iron mainly!) so that I can start to wear them!  So far everything still fits, but my pants are starting to leave marks on my belly - I guess that is a sign I should switch to maternity...I made it to the 6 month mark again though!
I don't go to the doctor again until March 2nd, but everything seems to be going well as far as I can tell.  At the last visit he told me my weight was perfect!  That is great b/c there are times I feel like I eat a lot.
Well, I have an 18 month old to try to get to bed soon!  God bless!  Have a great week!

22 weeks...over half way!

What a wild past couple of weeks!  We have had snow, lots of snow (not as much as the northeast but it seems like every week we get some more), temperatures not above 13 degrees some days, doctors appointments, trips to the ER and decisions about new baby bedding!

I think this is the snowiest season we have had in a long time.  I am pretty sure there has been snow in the forecast every week since Christmas!  It doesn't always amount to much in Springfield, but the surrounding areas all seem to get some.  Preston has loved playing out in the snow and AJ taught him to eat it!  The bad part is that we only have little fabric gloves for him so his hands get cold quickly.  After this last snow play time Preston was ready to go back inside b/c it was so cold!

Following our time outside and then heading over to Mark and Kaileys to hang out, we came home and did a breathing treatment.  That night, I was up giving breathing treatments at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30...I could not get Preston to stop retracting.  I wanted to just wait and take him to the Urgent Care, but they didn't open until 10:00 on Sunday and I could not wait that long - so we ended up at the ER.  They gave him another breathing treatment and an oral steriod and finally he stopped retracting.  The weird part (but good) was that his oxygen level never dropped below 90%  We were only there for about 3 hours, but that was long enough!  At the follow-up with the pediatrician he said that there was some sort of virus going around that a lot of kids had and were many of the same symptoms that Preston was displaying.  He wasn't running a temp or otherwise acting sick, just having trouble breathing.  Later that week, I got called and had to leave work b/c Preston suddenly spiked a temp of 103.3....crazy!!  We didn't have to do anything for that except tylenol one or two times and then he was fine.  Everything is good now!

For the Superbowl we got invited to 2 places...Preston's daycare and to Mark and Kailey's.  So we went to both - Jennie's before the game started so the kids could play and then to Mark and Kailey's.  Dave and Greta were there with Joshua, along with a lot of good food!

My doctor appointment in February went great!  Dr. Lehnert said my weight gain is perfect and the baby's heart rate sounds good!  I think he told me it was 154bpm.  I don't know if that is typical for a girl or not.  Not that we will tell, but we have not decided on a name, not even close to agreeing so far!!  I am still in normal clothes, although I have broken out a maternity shirt just b/c I was tired of my normal clothes!

The crib bedding arrived today...It is beautifully wrinkled!  We chose purple and brown for the colors and I got a great deal on the set I wanted.  I'll get pictures of that up later when we actually set up the nursery.
That is good for now.  Have a great weekend!
